W32/Mdropper.S Trojan

 Virus Information - W32/Mdropper.S Trojan:

W32/Mdropper.S is a trojan. The trojan will infect Windows systems.

The trojan will arrive as an attachment to a spammed email or as a downloaded file from the Internet.

Upon execution, this trojan exploits Microsoft Word Malformed Object Pointer Remote Code Execution Vulnerability as explained in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-027 wherein a specially crafted .doc file can cause the application to drop and execute an embedded executable file. This allows the dropped file to perform its malicious routines on the system.

Upon execution, the trojan copies itself as (randomly name).exe in the Windows System folder and executes it.
